Three Fun And Easy DIY Hair Accessories

A good hair accessory can make a big difference in your outfit! One mistake women sometimes make is spending hours picking out an outfit, then throwing their hair up in a simple bun. Adding a hair accessory makes a simple hairstyle look complex and carefully crafted.

This article features some fun and easy DIY ideas for how to make your own hair accessories. You can get any style you want with these easy projects! Do them yourself on a lazy weekend, or call some friends and make a bunch in a group. Crafting fun for everyone!

Flower Crown

Flower crowns are super cool right now. They give you a free-spirited hippie chic vibe and look adorable with pastels, a frilly dress, or even an all-black outfit.

Making a flower crown is easy. Start with a bunch of fake flowers from Michaels or Joanne’s. Choose a few different sizes and colors for the full “Lana del Ray” effect, or just pick up some small daisies if you want a simpler style.

Use wire to create a band the size of your head. Measure twice, cut once! It should be big enough to fit firmly on your head, but not so big it will slip off or fall down.

Now strip the plastic off the flowers’ stems and wrap the wire inside around your headband. That’s all there is to it – instant flower crown!

Customize Your Bobby Pins

There are tons of ways to customize your bobby pins. This adds a little sparkle and finish to even a simple hairstyle and also helps you keep stray strands out of your face.

Thread a wire with beads and wrap it around a bobby pin to give it a new look. You can do this a number of ways – with small glittery seed beads, refined-looking pearls, or shooting stars!

You can also apply this DIY to hair combs for a larger, more statement-y piece of hair jewelry.

Leave the beaded strand unfastened in the middle for an elegant, draped look. It’s like a necklace for your hair!

Colorful Bandanas

You can make a bandana or headband with any type of fabric you want with just a sewing needle and a little elastic. Braided headbands are easy to make and great for those bad hair days where you just want everything out of your face.

Of course, the best hair accessory (and the best way to make sure you have fewer bad of those bad hair days) is simply good hair care. Taking care of your luscious locks is the ultimate way to ensure that even a simple messy bun looks shiny, sleek, and healthy.

These easy DIYs are so fun, you’ll want to do them over and over again! Don’t be surprised if you end up with beads hot-glued to every bobby pin you own – that’s just the craft life.
