As our homes get smaller we have to be smarter and more creative about storage solutions. Making the most of space can not only give the illusion of a larger room, but it can also help to keep important items organized and even brighten up a dark corner. Living in a rented apartment, it’s even more important to implement these items with as little impact on the decor as possible. There’s a corner of my kitchen that’s been looking empty. I wanted to create a simple piece of furniture that would not only be pleasing on the eye, but also useful for keeping my accessories neatly organized and at easy reach. I’m using these towel holders because they have peel-off adhesive panels on the back that are strong enough to hold up some weight but are removable at the same time. Materials
- Wooden dowel poles
- Towel holders
- Spray paint
Directions
1. Remove the rubber inner section from the towel holder. It should just pop out easily. Make sure that the dowel pole easily fits into the open space.
2. Spray the metal sections of the towel holder with several light layers of spray paint to give your corner organizer a pop of color! Leave them to dry fully between coats to give an even coating.
3. Using a spirit level, hold the pole horizontally at the height you’d like the rail. Holding the pole in place, mark the position of each end on the wall with a pencil. Peel the tab off the back of one towel holder and secure it to the wall where you’ve made the pencil mark. Insert the wooden pole into the towel holder that is attached to the wall.
4. Peel the back from the remaining towel holder and place over the other end of the dowel. Attach this to the wall at the other pencil mark.
