How To Create A More Convenient Kitchen Space

How To Create A More Convenient Kitchen Space

When you’re someone who enjoys cooking, you’d love it if your kitchen has plenty of cupboard space, a nice walk-in pantry, and maybe even a kitchen island giving you extra room for all of the great kitchen utensils and other goodies that you like to use.

After all, a kitchen that is ergonomic will be a top preference for anybody who likes cooking up some great food. Now, if you’re considering renovating your cooking space to create the look you like, you could browse through the Kitchens by Manor Design for some design inspiration. But if you feel like it is a project that can wait for some time, there are a few things that you can do. Here are some tips:

Make Sure Everything Has A Home

The first tip for having an organized kitchen is to make sure that everything has its own space, and that you are always putting those things back in that space after you’re done using them or they’ve been cleaned. It can be helpful to have a specific cupboard for your coffee mugs and it can be wise to have those in separate areas than, say, your soup bowls. And, if you’re a fan of travel mugs, you may want to keep those in a convenient and easy to grab place as well. Now, finding that space to keep things in is part of where you’re going to have to become clever.

If you own a lot of kitchen items, you may not be able to fit them all in cupboards and drawers. Start, however, by organizing the things that will fit in these areas and then you can start looking for new creative ways to store all the extra stuff.

Get Creative With Storage

Getting creative with your storage space consists of finding unique places to put things. If your cupboards are hung low, you may be able to hide things up there like some of your kitchen gadgets. This is a good place to put your Magic Bullet, your stand mixer, and even a small cooler.

You can also hang things around your kitchen if you have the wall space. Put up little racks where you can hang things like your kitchen towels, pot holders with handles, and even utensils that have holes in the handle that make them hangable. You might even want to consider hanging some of your pots and pans from a rack on the ceiling.

Cut Back On Overstock

Consider getting rid of a few of the things that are in your kitchen, especially if you have a lot of backstock of food or even a lot of overstock of kitchen gadgets. Nobody needs a place setting for 50, even if you entertain guests on a regular business. You also don’t need five different types of blenders.

As far as an overstock of food goes, make sure that you check the expiration dates on the items that you have before you decide to do anything with it. Items that are outdated can be tossed or dumped and the containers can be recycled. If they are not outdated but you don’t think that you’re going to use them, consider donating to a food pantry.
