4 Home Décor Trends that Will Disappear & 4 That Won’t

1

Certain home décor trends around at the moment simply won’t withstand the test of time, however certain trends that are either new or have made a recent comeback look like they’re here to stay. Let’s take a closer look and get some predictions on the current design trends that will disappear and those that won’t.

4 Home Décor Trends that Will Disappear

There are certain home décor trends that are simply popping up everywhere this year. They may have even been around for quite some time now but that doesn’t mean they’re here to stay. I predict these trends won’t last much longer. In fact, I think most of us are getting pretty sick and tired of them actually.

The Pineapple

I’m not sure how or why this trend started but the endless cushions, fashions, blankets, tea towels, aprons, etc. that have some kind of pineapple print on them are getting old, and they’re getting old fast. There’s also been a rise in home décor porcelain, glass, china (you name it) pineapples. I’ve even seen cookie jars. I predict this pineapple trend won’t last much longer, at least, I hope it won’t.

The Flamingo

I’ll admit, I loved this one at first. I’m a sucker for a pink print, especially animal prints but the more and more I see of this particular trend, the more I’m getting seriously bored of it. The flamingo is everywhere at the moment, adorned on cushions and other home manchester items, wallpaper prints and of course pool blow-ups. Okay, they’re kind of almost cool. I predict a new animal soon, maybe the poodle is in for a return, everyone is loving retro nostalgia at the moment.

3

The Owl

Sorry Owl lovers, I predict the end to all the owl décor around as well. Not only is the owl over exposed on home décor items, but they’re over exposed on jewellery, clothing, manchester, just about anything you can put a print on, the owl has been there, done that. What will the next bird be? The flamingo? Nah.

The Chevron

Throw away those old chevron rugs, skirts, wall hangings, prints, tear down your chevron wallpaper. Chris, from the Life Creative, called it and I agree. Chevron is out. I for one am very glad of this one, it’s probably my least favourite of all the trends. I’m happy to see this one go.

4 Home Décor Trends Here to Stay

We’ve just looked at what’s out, so what’s in for 2016? A lot of old favourites are making a comeback and I couldn’t be happier with this list. 2016 might just be the best year yet for home décor and design trends.

Anything Vintage

Anything vintage is in again, whatever the era. If it’s old and used, uplift it with a coat of paint (yes, chalk paint is also here to stay). If it’s an antique though, leave it be. Upcycling isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s environmentally friendly, cheap and practical. Could it get better?

Pendant Lighting

Chandeliers will never go out of style but 2016 is the year the pendant light is making a mighty comeback. Statement pendants are now coming in every shape and size and colour imaginable so you can match with your décor or have a standout piece.

5

The Desk

Of course, the good old desk never really went away but it did go out of style. The desk was relegated to a practical piece only but is now making a triumphant comeback with a lot of flare. Desks are in and desk decorating is very in.

Copper Everything

Did copper ever really go out of style? Maybe not, but other metals certainly dominated in the past but copper is back baby and with a bang! You can find almost anything in actual copper or copper colour now and I’m thrilled about it.
